Based on the latest scientific findings, the app calculates the calorie consumption of different activities, from many parts of everydays life, on the basis of the metabolic equivalent (MET).

The metabolic equivalent (MET) is used to compare different activities. It compares the oxygen consumption during the activity with the consumption while resting.

The information on gender and body weight should also be considered, because a person with 180 pounds body weight burns more calories with the same activity than a person with 120 pounds body weight.

One MET corresponds approximately to the oxygen demand of a person at rest, these are about 3.5 ml of oxygen per kg (~2.2 pounds) of body weight per minute.
One MET is defined as the consumption of 1 kcal per kg (~2.2 pounds) per hour.
